ACC meeting
Arts Concerns is having a meeting this Friday, November 9th in Payton 100 at 1 PM. We’ll be talking about Advent Chapel, the Christmas Party, and some development in Arts Fest and opportunities around campus.
Also a sidenote: we are settling on this Friday biweekly meeting time, thought meeting notices will be emailed and posted here as well. If you are not receiving Arts Concerns emails, and you’d like to, please drop a line to artsconcerns@gmail.com.
SEMI: Politics anyone?
Call for articles/art:
This upcoming issue of the SEMI is themed around politics. This seemed a fitting topic in lieu of the increasing attention around the presidential race, even though it’s still a year out. This issue has been switched from “Fuller’s Identity” which will run later in the winter. So it is relatively short notice.
Here’s what the editors looking for:
- Can you be a political Christian?
- Was Jesus political?
- If power corrupts, should we pursue it?
- Is the Gospel political, anti-political, or unconcerned (with politics)?
- Does a social justice gospel necessarily include political concerns?
- Why are politics such a divisive issue?
- Why should you, or should you not, vote?
- What is a Christian’s responsibility in our democratic society?
- Does civic duty influence Christian duty?
- Are there any relevant Biblical issues related to politics?
- Psychologically, why do people take political issues so personally?
- In a society where we often link our political identity with our religious identity, how can we do foreign missions?
- ART! Any photos or any visual media is always welcome! If it is pertinent to the topic that is even better!
- Music, film, book, restaurant reviews are always welcome.
DEADLINE: Friday, November 9.
Word Count: 600-900 words.
